La La Land (2016)- Exhilarating Rollercoaster Ride

Everything you heard about the film is true. All the hype is real. It's one of the stunning cinematic piece of 2016.


La La Land is directed by Damien Chazelle starring Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone. The story revolves around two beautiful characters -Mia (Emma Stone) and Sebastian(Ryan Gosling). 

Damien Chazelle, the guy who made adrenaline-charged WHIPLASH back with another wonderful film.The most interesting thing about Chazelle is his love or obsession for JAZZ. And it's quite indescribable. First Guy and Madeline on a Park Bench, then Whiplash and Now La La Land. Each film is centered around jazz. With La La Land, Chazelle finished the trilogy of "Jazz-musician-fall-in-love-with-beautiful-women-and-goes-through-break-up-eventually-to-achieve-greater-things-in-life". II've very high expectations as he already started working on his next project "First-Man" about Neil Armstrong journey to Moon.

Every aspect of the film is spectacular. Production design, camera work, editing, colorization, sound mixing..everything looks neat and attractive.


Coming to performances, Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling totally lit the screen with their presence. It's impossible not to fall in love with Emma Stone. Really loved the dedication of Gosling as he learned the piano to reprise the role of Sebastian and he totally succeeded. 

What I liked more in the film is Justin Hurwitz's background score and songs. The minute you get out of the theatre, you surely hum "City of Stars" or "Another Day of Sun" or every track from the film.

La La Land is kind of film that brings the feeling of fall in love or wants you to dance with someone you love.

Long Day's Journey Into Night (2018): Bi Gan's New Film Is Visually Dazzling, Technically Accomplished and Emotionally A Transportive Cinematic Experience

Bi Gan's new film Long Day's Journey Into Night is wonderful follow-up to his knockout debut 'Kaili Blues'. The film is grandeur of achievement in technical aspects but technique never overwhelms the feeling. This is most immersive cinematic experience at the movies for me. I've never experienced anything like this before. Long Day's Journey Into Night tells the solitary life of Lu Hongwu (Huang Jue), who is haunted by lost-love and regret. He embarks on a journey of finding his lost love where his past and present merged in a dream. In the first hour of the film, we explores the journey of the protagonist in a neon-soaked world, in two timelines switching between present and past. Indraganti Mohan Krishna’s Gentleman (2016) Movie Review- Okay Watch!

Gentleman directed by the Mohan Krishna Indraganti, who already helmed the *well-received* Astha Chamma, Golconda High School & few other films. He succeeded as good storyteller before Gentleman & tried so hard to impress the audience with twists & turns in this one. Story of gentleman is one plot: how the wrong doings of one guy changed the lives of others. The movie opens with discussion of Ishwarya (Surabhi) & Catherine (Niveda Thomas) abt their personal life & how they fall in love with their boyfriend. By end of the first half we came to know that their bfs is/are Nani. Then we see some not so interesting twists & turns. The movie is trying to be as fascinating as possible but poor screenplay & silly moments make it bad. Most of the film is very slick sometimes. Nani is not only Natural Star but also most consistent in Tollywood. Delivered one more good performance with ease. He is very picky abt roles & succeeds every time. Nivetha T
